Northern Irish Incinerator Prevented

The proposed incinerator at Hightown, Belfast has been cancelled, because the Northern Ireland Environment Minister, Mark Durkan, said he was not satisfied the development would not cause harm to human health. He also went on to say that the development could result in an increased market for waste disposal and so discourage recycling.

These are similar arguments to those we have put forward against the Gloucester incinerator, but our politicians don’t listen.
